Jonah Hill has been battling constant weight fluctuations throughout his career, and has been open about how difficult it is to maintain a goal weight.
The Wolf of Wall Street star, 36, has had a slew of media coverage thrown his way, from his weight gain in 2014 and 2015 to his dramatic slim-downs in 2016 and 2017.
What's more, Jonah has admitted that his self-esteem took a hard, heavy hit after constantly finding himself under scrutiny for his fluctuating weight.
The War Dogs actor had previously piled on the pounds for roles in 21 and 22 Jump Street as well as The Wolf Of Wall Street, but has been able to lose it and showcase a slimmed-down look afterwards.
At his heaviest, Jonah weighed almost 18 stone and has since lost over 3 stone.
The actor shot to fame in 2007 teen comedy Superbad, and has since been battling his self image in the public eye.
Back in 2011, Jonah famously slimmed down his 17 stone 8lb frame for his role in Moneyball with co-star Brad Pitt.
His slimmed-down figure sparked much speculation that Brad was the driving force behind his major weight loss, however Jonah later said it was simply down to a new diet and taking care of himself.
Speaking about his impressive 2 stone 8 lb weight loss, he told ABC News: "It was just mostly diet.
"I wish there was some crazy thing that I did, like a pill or a genie or something, but I went to see a nutritionist, and he told me what to eat to change my habits and stuff.
I found that Japanese food was very helpful to me."
He also admitted that something as simple as ditching beer had helped him shed the weight faster than he thought.
He explained: "I went to a nutritionist and I said, 'I'll lose weight, Ill eat healthier and whatever, but figure out how I can drink beer'.
"It's so annoying because if I dont drink beer, I get really really thin. Then when I drink beer, I get a little bigger."
But despite his major weight loss, the actor later gained the weight back as his fluctuations began to take toll.
It was then in 2014 when he once again slimmed down for the action-comedy22 Jump Street.
But the diet regime only lasted for two years as in 2016 Jonah again gained weight for his role in War Dogs opposite Channing Tatum.
Despite the gain, Jonah then admitted he would be resuming his healthy lifestyle to drop the pounds once again after the film.
The world got to see Jonah at his lowest ever weight in 2017 after the actor lost a whopping three stone that he put on for his role in War Dogs.
Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he revealed the hilarious advice Jump Street co-star gave him.
He said:I gained weight for this movie War Dogs, and then I wanted to get in better shape, so I called Channing, and said, Hey, if I ate less and go to a trainer, will I get in better shape?
"And he said, Yes, you dumb motherf***er, of course you will, its the simplest thing in the entire world'."
And throughout the years, Jonah has been very open about his weight journey, admitting that his self-esteem had been affected by the vicious criticism regarding his size.
Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres back in 2018, he said: I became famous in my late teens and then spent most of my young adult life listening to people say that I was fat and gross and unattractive.
And its only in the last four years writing and directing my movie, Mid90s, that Ive started to understand how much that hurt and got into my head."
"I really believe everyone has a snapshot of themselves from a time when they were young that theyre ashamed of. For me, its that 14-year-old overweight and unattractive kid who felt ugly to the world, who listened to hip-hop and who wanted so badly to be accepted by this community of skaters."
He added: I think everybody has a version of themselves at some point in your life the person youre trying to kind of hide from the world.
Even if you get success or you grow up or you become good-looking or whatever, the things that you think will fix the thing, you kind of carry some part of that with you.
It took a long time honestly until right now for me to come out as sort of the person, the artist, mind, what I represent, how I feel, how Id like to be spoken to, how I speak to the world in a way that actually represents who I am as a person as opposed to me trying to be something else that Im not. Im under construction like we all are.

Demands for government intervention on obesity to help cut ‘increased but preventable’ COVID-19 death risk – FoodNavigator.com
Its proposals include bans on the advertising of unhealthy products, limits on fast food portion sizes, mandatory nutrition labelling and mandatory reformulation targets for salt, sugar and calories all policed by a new independent food watchdog.
The proposals come ahead of the British Governments imminent reviewwhich will analyse how factors including obesity, ethnicity, income and gender can affect the impact of the coronavirus on peoples health.
Britain has suffered a heavy toll from the pandemic, experiencing the second-highest rate of deaths per capitaafter Spain, according to the Financial Times and based excess mortality figures. The government, however, said it was wrong and premature to be drawing conclusions at this stage and that excess deaths should be adjusted for age.
Action on Salt, meanwhile, maintained there is increasing evidence demonstrating that obesity is an independent risk factor for more severe illness and death from COVID-19.
It believes obesity is the major risk factor that can potentially be modified meaning millions of people are living with an increased, but preventable, risk from COVID-19.
The current NHS treatments recommended for severe obesity are bariatric surgery, supported weight loss services, advice, and orlistat, which can be prescribed by a GP. Not all treatments are available or accessible, it said.
Beyond this, although there is an element of personal responsibility in both the treatment and prevention of obesity, this can only be equitably achieved with access to healthy, affordable food in an environment that supports the individual at every turn not the current obesogenic environment within which we live. Long planned and vital governmental measures to address this have been delayed by food industry lobbying and have now been put on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak, at a time when they have never been more necessary.
It is urging ministers to act on previous government commitments to tackle the obesity crisis that the nation faced prior to COVID-19 and will continue to face if government continue[s] to dither".
Katharine Jenner - campaign director of Action on Sugar and Action on Salt, Queen Mary University of London - said: The British public are being failed bythe food environment within which we currently live. Although there is an element of personal responsibility in both the treatment and prevention of obesity, this can only be achieved withequitableaccess to healthy, affordable food this is far from a reality. It is even more critical than ever for the food and drink industry, including the hospitality sector, to stop flooding us with unhealthy food options to keep us healthy both now and in the future.
Action on Sugar has called for immediate government intervention on obesity to help prevent further deaths from COVID-19.
Among its proposals are to ensure only healthy products are advertised and promoted. According to the group, the advertising, price and placement promotions (such as end of aisles, point of sale) of more unhealthy foods and drinks manipulates choice, creating an environment where products high in salt, sugar and/or fat are more desirable.
It has called for fiscal measures to promote healthy food (with income ringfenced to subsidise treatments), as well as mandatory nutrition labelling. The Soft Drinks Industry Levy has been successful in reducing sugar intakes via reformulation, and in raising much needed revenue for childrens services, it said. The current sugar levy thresholds should be reduced, the rates increased, and it should be immediately applied to a calorie threshold in sugar sweetened milk and milk-alternative drinks.
It wants reformulation efforts to be policed by a new independent food watchdog. The current voluntary reformulation programmes have failed, it said, and it wants incremental mandatory reformulation targets set for salt, sugar and calories.
It also wants to make colour-coded signpost labelling mandatory on all food, drinks and alcohol sold in retail, and for the nutritional profile of processed food and drink to be improved via government implementation of portion size restrictions.
Graham MacGregor, chairman of Action on Sugar and Action on Salt, and Professor of cardiovascular medicine, Queen Mary University of London, said: With data showing that 78% of coronavirus infections and 62% of hospital deaths occur in overweight or obese individuals with Boris Johnson himself is reportedly to be concerned about his own weight with an estimated BMI of 36 the government has a moral duty to intervene.
"Obesity is also the main underlining cause of type 2 diabetes which in itself is another potentially modifiable risk factor for more severe COVID-19. However, long planned and awaited governmental measures to address this have been unbelievably put on hold due to the COVID-19 outbreak, at a time when they have never been more necessary.
Speaking to FoodNavigator, ProfessorMacGregor agreed there was 'no quick fix' to tackling obesity, and that the evidence was currently lacking to suggest reducing weight 'reduces the risk of infection or theseverityof the infection with COVID-19'.
But he added: "There's a lot of evidence out there showing that eating a more healthy diet with less salt, fat and sugar, and particularly more fruit and vegetables, does give you a positive increase in your immunity and your ability to fight infection, an that's the same for exercise.
"You can't just lose weight tomorrow, but it's more the change in diet than the weight loss per se."
But is it wrong toblamethe bigfood companiesfor the rising incidence ofobesity? Should we be talking moreabout choice and personal responsibility instead of government intervention?
"The food industry makes very cheap, processed food that's stuffed with salt, fat and sugar. It then spends billions of pounds marketing and advertising it and making it available everywhere. The reason counties are becoming obese all over the world is not the fault of individuals," contendedMacGregor.
The food industry is to blame. They already know that and are taking action. Now we have a new COVID-19 pandemic which quite clearly is far worse in people who are obese. The food industry has created this environment and they need to do something about it. I think anyone reasonable in the food industry would agree."

Yetikyel: Adele’s weight loss re-opened the narrative of toxic-productivity during quarantine – North by Northwestern
When you type Adele in Google, the search bar tries to automatically fill in the rest of your sentence with, lost weight and weight loss." This is probably because Adele recently posted on her social media for her 32nd birthday, which showed a change in her appearance. As a result, tabloids and social media accounts alike have been talking about her weight loss nonstop, mostly in praises. There are side-by-side comparisons of Adele throughout the years and captions talking about how beautiful and healthy she looks now.
So as our society celebrates Adele's weight loss, where does that leave us in this pandemic? How does this praise represent the projection of productivity we are forcing down our throats while in quarantine?
It's no secret our society loves to value women based on their weight. I wanted to type into Google, "Is Adele okay?" or "How is Adele handling her divorce?" or "Is Adele happy being a mom?" Of course, I wouldn't get a direct answer to this. But does anyone actually care? Aside from begging for more music, people only seem to be talking about her weight, as if it's the second-most defining thing about her. This isn't about "glowing up." Society's obsession with Adele's weight is the tip of the broken foundation that is body image in America.
Celebrities are often put up on a pedestal for having a certain aesthetic with their bodies. This "celebrity standard" is toxic and completely unreasonable. Women with unattainable bodies, like the Kardashians, are consistently praised for their figures. We see them plastered all over the front pages of magazines, 100 ft tall billboards in Times Square and every television channel. Even at the prestigious 2019 Met Gala, Kim Kardashian's waist was the main focus of her look. Not the dimensionality of her dress, not the hundreds of crystals hanging off of her, not even how she looked like she just walked out of the ocean all eyes were fixed on her impossibly tiny waistline.
But this isn't about pitting women against one another. Society is already doing that for us. This is about the fact that body-shaming comes in a variety of ways, even praise. Adele posted on her Instagram May 5th, and according to Google Trends, the topic of weight loss spiked to peak popularity of 98-100 the following two days compared to its usual little-over-half popularity of 58. In Google Trends, the numbers are put on a chart from 0 to 100 to represent the popularity of a topic. 100 means that the topic is at its most popular, while 50 means that the topic is half as popular. The related topic of Adele had a dramatic increase in searches related to the term weight loss, along with the most popular queries being how did Adele lose all her weight? and Adele weight loss plan.
In "Fat Shame: Stigma and the Fat Body in American Culture" by Amy Erdman, talks about how in modern days, weight gain is associated with negativity and loss of societal place. Meanwhile, weight loss has the total opposite result. Losing weight means youve gained approval and have improved your place in society.
The bias against gaining weight is evident in aspects and habits of American society, particularly through the microaggressions of commenting on the weight changes of celebrities.
Even though we're in the middle of a global pandemic, it seems as though everyone is capitalizing on how productivity is not only encouraged, but expected, as we continue staying at home. Even after we put together all of our puzzle sets and play all of the board games we own, we are still faced with the notion that we should be doing something useful, important, with our time. It feels as if we need to prove our worth with the results we produce by the end of quarantine. There are countless memes about coming out of quarantine with either a beach body or having gained weight. Meanwhile, the internet seems to ignore how hard it is staying at home for so long, and how this impacts one's body image and mental health.
American society is obsessed with always accomplishing and always being in motion. The work culture of this country is constantly driving people to do more, be more, even if its beyond our current limitation. Reactions to Adele weight loss are a prime example of how we tend to twist personal narratives to fit harmful biases; the bias of having to do anything productive with the crumbs of free time we get, even during a pandemic. It feels as though that if we dont come out of quarantine with a beach body, then we wasted the time we got indoors, even though things like mental health and finances are rarely brought into the picture of these biases. Adele lost weight; that doesn't mean you need to buy a gym membership and start doing online work-out sessions in your living room. It's easy to get lost in our own body image issues, especially while in quarantine. It's scary. But weight shouldn't be a life-sentence to how someone is treated.
Instead of focusing on Adeles weight, maybe we should focus on what we can do for ourselves during this pandemic, not what were being pushed to do by toxic standards.
While quarantined, Ive written lists for daily activities I want to accomplish, most of which surrounded my weight. Whether it was 30 minute workout or one hour walk, this list hung over my head every day, in addition to the guilt I felt if I didnt check off each box. The other items on the list were productivity-related, too. I wanted to write a book of poetry during quarantine, learn electric guitar, get into film photography, record what life was like during a pandemic so I can show my kids one day. These are all things I sincerely want to do, but the feeling of having to do it almost ruins the appeal in the first place. These activities used to be outlets, and now, Im forcing myself to enjoy them for the sake of productivity.
I recognize I need to be kinder to myself during quarantine. Its taken me years to get to a place where I can accept my body, even if thats still on shaky grounds. But I dont have to be productive through lists and tasks. Accepting my body is active and on-going, and I need to value that relationship more than how this society expects me to look.

Mum lost five stone in a year and became super fit after the dramatic birth of her baby – Cambridgeshire Live – Cambridgeshire Live
A mum who had two surgical emergencies performed simultaneously lost five stone in a year after her ordeal inspired her to become super fit.
In agony, pregnant maths teacher Mari Wyn, 33, of Bangor, was rushed to hospital on January 6, 2018, with a ruptured appendix.
Then, after removing the damaged organ, hospital surgeons delivered baby Gwion five weeks premature, by caesarean section, feeling it was the safest option to protect the lives of both mother and child.
I was petrified on the way to the hospital and in a lot of pain, recalled Mari, whose husband, Gerallt, 33, is a construction technician.
I knew me, and my baby could be in serious danger.
Everything was such a blur. When I came to, I had no idea if I had a baby or not.
Thankfully, little Gwion had arrived safely, weighing 5lb 12oz, and soon after both mother and baby were allowed home.
Put through the mill, Mari needed three months to make a full recovery, which she mostly spent stuck on the sofa, unable to properly care for her newborn son, instead, relying on Gerallt to take look after them both.
But her recovery signalled the start of a new dawn for Mari who, in April 2018, then an unfit size 18, vowed to get into the best shape of her life, so she never missed out on a moment of her sons life again.
Mari explained: Not being able to take care of Gwion for those first few months after the operation was heartbreaking.
Ive always yo-yo dieted and never been one to exercise a lot. But those 12 weeks were a real wake up call. I was so weak I could barely bend down to pick up my son.
It made me realise that to be the best mum to Gwion when I recovered, I needed to be as fit and healthy as possible, so I never missed any moments with him again.
But losing weight meant changing the habits of a lifetime for Mari a serial yo-yo dieter, whose weight had crept up to almost 15 stone.
She said: Throughout my life Ive struggled with my weight and yo-yo dieting and Ive never been able to stick to a weight loss plan for long.
I suppose I never had enough motivation or willpower to.
At 5ft 3 and weighing 14 stone 12lbs, Mari had a body mass index (BMI) used to measure a healthy weight of 36.8, compared to the NHS recommended figure of between 18.5 and 25, meaning she was classed as obese.
But, at last, her baby had given her the motivation to slim down successfully.
Having little Gwion was all the motivation I needed to get myself as fit and healthy as possible, she said.
And, by April 2019, Mari had shrunk from 14 stone 12lb to 10 stone, reaching her goal weight.
But not content simply to maintain her slender size 10 frame, by April this year Mari had shed another half a stone and even ran her first half marathon in Cardiff in September.
This is the slimmest Ive ever been in my life, she said. I hit my goal weight a year ago and over the last year Ive lost another half a stone.
She added: Ive completely transformed my life. I never imagined Id be able to run a few miles let alone half a marathon. I feel incredible and also in the best shape to be the best mum.
Maris dramatic transformation has been thanks to following a WW eating plan and adding in exercise to her routine.
But, mostly, she credits a change in mindset for being able to maintain her weight loss one year on.
My mindset has changed forever Im never going back to the way I was, she said. I still enjoy food, and the odd treat, but now its all about balance and making healthy choices.
Mari had struggled with her weight throughout her adult life, even though she was at her heaviest in April 2018.
She recalled: When I wasnt trying to diet, I didnt have the healthiest eating habits. Before I started WW, breakfast was usually a bowl filled with sugary cereal Id eat as much as I could fit in it.
She continued: Lunch was usually some sort of meal deal where Id buy a sandwich, chocolate and a packet of crisps.
And dinner was something carby like pasta with lots of sauce and a slice of bread. And my portion sizes were too big because Id have the same sized dinner as my husband.
For pudding, I could polish off a whole bag of Maltesers or Minstrels in one sitting.
Stressful situations would also drive her to comfort eat.
If I had a stressful day at work, Id come home order a takeaway and wash it down with a bottle of wine and chocolates, she said. If I was stressed, Id snack too Id eat crisps and chocolate and never think to work out how many calories I was actually eating.
At the time, it made me feel better, but really it was just a short-term fix.
And, though she was delighted to be able to being Gwion home, she still struggled, given that she was recovering herself.
It was really tough, I was a new mum, but I could barely do anything for my son myself, she continued.
Because I wasnt able to do anything my husband took over all the cooking, and it was a lot of quick easy meals like toast, pasta or microwave meals. And because I couldnt move around much my weight started to creep up.
Her turning point came when she had Gwion and, three months into motherhood, joined her local WW class.
I wanted to get back into shape to be the best mum possible and as a kick start, I gave myself a month to lose one stone, she explained.
I joined WW and I followed the plan to a tee and within the first week Id lost 9lbs.
Swapping sugary cereal and snacks for three balanced meals a day, Mari says the weight soon fell off.
She explained: It was really easy to follow because all the meals were really tasty breakfast was usually eggs on toast, lunch was a chicken salad or chicken wrap and dinner was usually fish or meat with some healthy carbs and lots of veg.
Shedding one stone in one month, when Mari went on holiday to an all-inclusive hotel in Cyprus with her husband Gerallt and Gwion in May, she still stuck to the healthy eating plan.
She said: Usually, if I was going to an all-inclusive, Id happily eat everything I saw. Id have the attitude of, Ive already paid for this so Im going to eat it.
But by that point Id changed my mindset and I didnt think anything of reaching for the fruit and yogurt for breakfast.
For lunch Id have fruit and salads, and for dinner Id eat what I wanted, but I just make sure to have smaller portions.
And since losing weight, Mari has not looked back even adding exercise into her routine, something shed never done previously.
She said: I started jogging, which is something Id never done before in my life and I started walking two or three miles every day with the baby, so the weight just seemed to come off.
And in March 2019, just one month before she reached her goal weight, Mari ran her first ever 10km.
Exercise isnt just good for losing weight, its great for your mind too, she said. Jogging has kept me on track and helped me stay positive and motivated throughout my weight loss journey.
Then, in September, she ran the Cardiff Half Marathon.
I never believed Id ever be able to run half a marathon, she said. It was amazing experience running along to all the crowds and Gwion and Gerallt were there to cheer me on too.
Being an accomplished half a marathon runner has also helped when it comes to dashing around after her little boy.
Gwion wont sit still, hes constantly running around doing things, she said. If I hadnt lost the weight theres no way, Id be able to keep up with him.
Now Im fitter than Ive ever been, and I can be the best mum to my son. When I couldnt take care of Gwion for those few weeks it really made me think about looking after myself and my own health.
She continued: Even though Id tried to lose weight before I was never in the right mindset or didnt have enough motivation to do it. But having my son as motivation set me on the right path, because I wanted nothing more to be the best mum.
Now Im in the best shape of my life and all it took was a change of mindset, a healthy eating plan and some exercise. Im proof the WW plan really does work.
Ray Kaur a nutritionist at WW, said staying motivated can be a challenge as our brains can latch onto the idea that we are going to get an instant return for our hard work.
She explained: While its natural for our motivation levels to dip, which can mean defaulting to old habits or giving into temptations, its important to remember its not a permanent state.
Remembering your why the purpose that drives you and setting small, measurable steps will help you towards your overall goal.
Studies have shown the effect a few small changes can have on our overall wellbeing.
This could manifest itself in tweaks to our routines like experimenting with new recipes, trying an online exercise class to shake up work outs or even getting to bed a little earlier, meaning youll feel more refreshed the next day.
