WOD Toys Sponsors Fitness Inspired Halloween Contest

WOD Toys, LLC Halloween Costume Contest Now Open till October 25th offering terrific prizes. Fitness Inspired Costumes encouraged.

Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) October 10, 2012

WOD Toys is a different type of toy company that deeply cares about the fitness and the future health of our children. Their entire product line takes its inspiration from popular fitness equipment. For instance, the WOD Toys product line includes toys like the Barbell Mini, the Kettle Kid, and the Medball Mini. These toys are not real exercise equipment. Instead, they are well-constructed toys safe for children from the age of two years old and up.

Ernest Haekel Ebio, CEO of WOD Toys believes that by introducing fitness equipment to kids at a very early age, we instill in them a love of exercising and a desire for a healthy lifestyle. With the obesity rate in children now spiraling out of control, Mr. Ebio felt that this was an ingenious and fun method of helping our kids develop a love of fitness at a very early age.

Recently, Ernest Haekel Ebio had this to say, We continue our quest to help children learn about and love working out, and eating healthy. Our contest encourages the entrants to include one of our toys in their entry photo. This is our way of getting the word out there to the public about WOD Toys so that parents can direct their children down the road to a wholesome lifestyle at an early age.

Though the contest is open to kids of all ages, entries must be submitted by someone who is 18 years old or older and living in the United States. Entries may be submitted starting October 1, 2012 at 9 a.m. PST. Deadline for submission is Oct 25th and entry into the contest is free. WOD Toys encourages you to not only enter but ask friends to vote for your costume.

Prizes will be awarded as follows: Grand Prize is a $300 WOD Toys gift certificate, 2nd Prize is a $150 WOD Toys gift certificate, and 3rd Prize is a $50 WOD Toys gift certificate. Voting begins on October 26th and ends October 31st. Winners will be announced the week following Halloween on the WOD Toys website.

WOD Toys inventor, Ernest Haekel Ebio, believes in childhood fitness and has plans to expand his toy line to include many other toys that resemble popular gym equipment. His efforts are already helping thousands of children to form a strong foundation at an early age in health and fitness that will hopefully endure throughout their lifetime. Investing in the future health of our children is a win-win situation for everyone.

Because of the continuing childhood obesity epidemic, sales of products that promise health, fitness and weight loss have seen a sharp upswing in recent years. WOD Toys have been featured on CNN Money, and Komo 4 news. WOD Toys now has distribution channels all over the US and in Australia.

Elite Fitness Plus has it all covered for golfers

More and more, golfers understand the relationship between fitness and success.

That correlation prompted Mike Davis, president and CEO of Elite Fitness Plus a 15,000-square-foot training center in Westlake Village to put together a golf-related fitness program designed around the concepts created at the Titleist Performance Institute in Carlsbad.

For more than a year, Elite Fitness has offered its clients the chance to work with TPI-certified trainers. In the program, trainers use a series of tests to identify any physical factors that are limiting a golfer's performance.

Instituting the TPI program was the first step in Davis' plan to offer a complete range of golf programs.

The latest step came earlier this year when the Elite Fitness Plus opened a Golf Lab adjacent to the facility's main workout area. Elite's Golf Lab has all the new-age gadgets, including a launch monitor to test a player's swing speed, clubhead speed and launch angle.

"So many of our clients are into golf that we want to be able to provide them with the tools they need to enjoy the game more," Davis said. "With our TPI program, we were able to help golfers from the neuromuscular aspect, but we needed to add the Golf Lab to be able to offer a comprehensive approach to golf swing. Now we're able to help from the swing analysis end along with the fitness side."

While having the proper equipment is crucial for the program's success, according to Davis the biggest key was hiring PGA Tour instructor Joe Musser to run it.

"He brings so much personality and enthusiasm to the job," Davis said. "This is a service-based industry and Joe is a real people person, who also really understands the golf swing and the equipment we've got here."

Musser found he had a talent for golf early in life. But the daily grind and the belief he felt he wasn't progressing fast enough led Musser to burn out.

He quit golf and moved to Mammoth. For several years he spent his days on the ski slopes, both teaching and skiing. He came down off the mountain and enrolled in a technical school with an eye on working in the IT field.

Derry fitness worries for replay

Derry City have fitness doubts over Barry Molloy and Rory Patterson for Wednesday's FAI Cup semi-final replay against Shelbourne (20:00 BST).

Molloy was struggling with a thigh injury in the closing stages of Sunday's 1-1 draw at the Brandywell and could miss the Tolka Park rematch.

Patterson played his first game in some time as he lasted for an hour on Sunday but may not start in Dublin.

Stephen McLaughlin is another doubt but has a better chance of being involved.

If Molloy is ruled out, Ruaidhri Higgins may be drafted into central midfield while another option is to switch Patrick McEleney from the flank.

Barry McNamee represents a further option for Devine who was pleased with his team's second-half display at the weekend after the slow start which saw them conceding a fourth-minute goal.

"I felt we totally dominated the second half," Devine told BBC Radio Foyle.

"Our approach play in the second half was very good. We passed the ball very well and asked questions of their back-four. That's what we want again come Wednesday night."

Derry have already beaten Shels at Tolka Park this season and Devine says the prospect of the march "doesn't frighten me at all".

"We respect going away from home against good opposition and it's going to be a very difficult game.

larklife(TM) Makes Improving Diet, Fitness and Stress as Simple as Brushing Your Teeth

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 8, 2012) - lark (www.lark.com), creator of lark original and lark pro, the wireless sleep tracker and personal sleep coach, today unveiled larklife, a wearable diet, fitness and sleep tracking and coaching system. Designed with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and experts that includes a Stanford neuroeconomist, a pro-sports sleep coach to NBA, NFL, NHL stars, and a Harvard psychologist and sleep expert, larklife includes two tracking wristbands and a free iOS application that coaches people to feel more energized and productive every day through science-based, personalized recommendations from the experts.

The larklife philosophy: live smarter The team of experts that developed larklife believes that getting healthier starts with building better habits, instead of trying to achieve a single large goal -- calories burned, miles run, etc. -- which discourages people when they fail to meet it. According to a survey conducted October 2-4, 2012 online by Harris Interactive on behalf of lark among 2,516 U.S. adults ages 18 and older, nearly half (43 percent) of Americans agree that mainstream wellness programs do not meet their needs.

Almost two-thirds (64 percent) of Americans agree that they would have a better chance at getting healthy if they had a wellness program personalized to them. Based on each user's unique information captured by using the product, larklife's interdisciplinary experts are able gently coach them through a unique and completely individualized process that is proven to result in real, sustainable benefits at a manageable pace.

First, larklife tracks the user's daily fitness, diet and sleep activity via the wristbands. Second, it provides advance notice or real-time suggestions via the iOS app for small changes users should make to feel better. The individualized suggestions are a result of the user's data being analyzed on the back-end by sophisticated techniques, developed by larklife's team of experts and based on the science of circadian rhythms, or how individuals' energy levels peak and dip. Third and most importantly, it celebrates improvements in the user's diet, fitness and sleep activities to keep motivation high. Users experience this celebration through a fun light show on the wristband and reward icons in the data feed in their iOS app.

"Focusing on a single, 10,000-step goal or competing with others for the best mile time doesn't motivate most people, especially those of us who are not elite athletes. We built larklife to help make feeling great more attainable for the rest of us," said Julia Hu, CEO and founder of lark. "I know there are millions of people out there like me who just wish they still had the energy to 'do it all,' but have been discouraged by mainstream health fads that just didn't help them get there. This product is like having a fitness trainer, nutritionist, productivity, stress and sleep coach quietly working together to help you feel better gradually. Failure isn't possible."

How it works larklife ensures people will achieve better health by working on two levels; it simplifies activity tracking through intuitive technology and uses the data to provide expert coaching in a way that is psychologically proven to create real change. larklife is built to continually grow smarter for each user through automated machine learning in all three tracking categories. The more people wear it, the more the system will know about them, allowing it to better map their activities to their performances.

Intuitive fitness tracking While worn on the wrist, larklife automatically tracks steps taken, calories burned and distance traveled. Unlike competing products in the market, larklife uses patent-pending, proprietary machine-learning technology to more accurately track the user's activity levels and can distinguish between a run and a walk automatically.

One-Tap diet tracking Food journaling has been proven effective for weight loss but it also takes a lot of work, prohibiting people from sticking with it. larklife's one-tap diet tracking lets users effortlessly log a meal by simply pressing the button on their wristband. The app records the meal wirelessly and users have the option to go back and easily tap what categories of food they ate if they want to, when they have a free moment.

Sleep tracking Your mood and energy to tackle the day is most linked with a good night's sleep followed by a pleasant wake up call. larklife not only tracks and analyzes the wearer's sleep, but also wakes them gently using lark's patented, dynamic vibration technology, a key feature in the award-winning lark original.

"This product doesn't just give people their data and expect them to know how to use it. Quite frankly, I believe similar products that don't take the next step to encourage and give attainable direction to users will fall out of favor quickly, because it's just one more to-do they're having to add to an already busy life," said Dr. Baba Shiv, larklife advisor, neuroeconomist and Stanford faculty. "At the most basic level, my research is about what motivates people to build habits and we've incorporated the finding in larklife to ensure that it will work seamlessly in the background to help people become more productive, energetic and less stressed overall."

Jacobs Ladder climbers reap tough fitness rewards

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Jacobs Ladder, a moving, angled, climbing machine, may be named after the Biblical stairway to heaven, but it packs such a challenging workout people have dubbed it the stairway to hell.

Fitness experts say users of the fitness machine, which is a favorite among Army Rangers, Navy Seals, and "The Biggest Loser" television series, reap total body, calorie-busting rewards.

"It's a great and tough cardio piece," said Neal Pire, an exercise physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine. "Picture a step mill that combines the lower and upper body, and you have Jacobs Ladder. Except instead of steps, you have rungs."

Because the user climbs with arms as well as legs more muscles are working and more calories are burned.

"As a rule the more muscle mass you utilize during any activity, the greater the oxygen consumed, which is directly correlated to the calories you consumed," said Pire, president of Inspire Training Systems, in New Jersey. "Unlike stair climbers, you can't hold on to the sides."

Jacobs Ladder was invented by Steve Nichols, a fitness champion who injured his knees and back, according to Bob Palka, president of Jacobs Ladder, LLC.

"He wanted to come up with a good workout that didn't impact back and knees." said Palka, who bought the patent and assets from Nichols in 1994.

"Effectively it's just climbing a ladder," Palka said.

People using the machine are placed at a 40-degree angle to put the spine in a more neutral position, relieve the back of stress and engage core muscles.

Palka said on Jacobs Ladder the person's body weight is lifted over a 12-inch (30.5-centemeter) step for fuller range of motion than the eight-inches of a step mill.
