PhenObestin 37.5 More Effective than Exercise Interventions for Children

In response to two articles published in the September 27 online issue of BMJ that concluded exercise interventions for children were ineffective, PharmaCo Labs recommends that doctors and parents who are concerned about the health of overweight children, consider their over-the-counter weight loss pill PhenObestin 37.5, as part of an overall program of lifestyle changes including diet and exercise.

Germantown, MD (PRWEB) October 09, 2012

The first of the articles published in BMJ reviewed student intervention programs that measured student activity with objective measuring devices such as accelerometry devices. The goal of the programs was to give students additional mandated exercise periods during the week, with the hope that the additional exercise would counteract the obesity epidemic plaguing children of developed nations. The researchers discovered that three 90-minute sessions of mandated exercise that included 60 minutes of vigorous exercise raised the childrens overall level of exercise by only 4 minutes.

Earlier research suggested that exercise intervention did not work because the additional exercise caused children to eat more calories. But the comprehensive review of intervention exercise programs suggests that these programs dont work because they do not actually raise the childrens overall level of activity, supplanting the vigorous after-school activity the children would normally engage in rather than adding to it.

The second article expounded upon the results cited in the first, and called for a more thorough understanding of the overall activity levels of children. They also suggested that children with normal body-mass-index (BMI) values be studied to determine how they maintained their healthy weight.

One way that people with healthy BMI values tend to outpace their less-healthy BMI compatriots is in the level of their metabolism. People with healthy BMI values tend to burn more calories, even at rest, than those with less-healthy BMI values. PhenObestin 37.5 has been shown to boost metabolism by more even than prescription Adipex does.

By including PhenObestin 37.5 in a program of diet and lifestyle changes, children with unhealthy BMI values can lose weight and approach the metabolic levels of children with healthy BMI values. PhenObestin 37.5 also stimulates the central nervous system and increases the overall brain activity level, so it will help the children to remain focused and alert so that they can better stay on their new diet and lifestyle program.

In addition to raising the metabolism, PhenObestin 37.5 also boosts the brains dopamine levels, which helps to reduce mood swings and depression that may be exacerbated by dieting. It helps to burn fat, especially stubborn belly fat, and flushes away the toxins that were trapped in the fat as well as the toxins from the increased metabolic activity in the body. The all-natural pharmaceutical-grade ingredients responsible for these benefits are derived from the cocoa plant, the acacia blackbush plant, and Yohimbe bark extract, and then combined in a cGMP-FDA compliant Indianapolis-based laboratory.

Inactive kids? York health and fitness experts tell how to get them moving

Adults now worry more about children not getting enough exercise than about childhood obesity.

Eleven-year-old Jacob Landis, left, and his brother Alex, 10, participate in swim practice Monday at the Athletic Club in West Manchester Township. Many local gyms are offering more physical activity for children through new classes and programs. (YORK DAILY RECORD/SUNDAY NEWS -- JASON PLOTKIN)

Inactive children who don't get enough exercise rank higher than worries about childhood obesity for the first time, according to a recent national poll.

Thirty-nine percent of adults rated "not enough exercise" as their leading concern for children, according to the poll from C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health. "Childhood obesity" was a close second, with 38 percent of adults rating it as a "big problem" in 2012.

York County health and fitness experts aren't surprised. A reason they cited for the shift in concern from obesity to exercise included kids spending more time playing with smartphones and video games instead of playing outdoors. Experts say parents are turning to local gyms for classes and special training to get kids physically active.

Busy parents struggle to find time for simple activities like walking around a block in their neighborhood with their families, according to Kate Harner, YMCA of York County's director of development and communications.

"As we have a new generation of parents with kids that are school-age, many of those houses are two-income households, two parents with careers," Harner said. "There aren't as many parents who can stay home as there were in the past. Now we aren't as attentive to taking care of people as we are about taking care of things."

Rise in medical problems

Doctors and healthcare providers are changing how they talk about kids' health and parents are responding to it, Kelly Marsteller, a registered dietitian at Memorial Hospital said.

Resistance Exercise Program Provides Benefit to Breast Cancer Survivors

As shown in a recent study, 12-week resistance exercise program can significantly improve physical self-esteem, a critical element in a survivors mental fitness and their desire to embrace and maintain physical fitness. The study utilized Thera-Band elastic resistance bands, developed and manufactured by Performance Health.

Akron, OH (PRWEB) October 08, 2012

Dr. Musantis study, published in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, looked at the effects of different types of exercise on self-esteem in breast cancer survivors. Forty-two women diagnosed with stage I through III-B breast cancer and who had completed chemotherapy or radiation therapy participated in the study. They were randomly assigned to one of four 12-week, individualized home-based exercise programsflexibility training; aerobic training; Thera-Band resistance training; or aerobic plus Thera-Band resistance training.

We knew that exercise prescription had been linked to improved self-esteem in non-breast cancer populations and hoped our study would result in the same findings plus create heightened awareness of this benefit of exercise, stated Dr. Musanti. Obviously, a woman wants to survive breast cancer, but she also wants to feel good again and that often has to start with her feeling good about herself.

We hypothesized that combining resistance and aerobic training would have a greater effect on physical self-esteem, continued Musanti. However the study showed that resistance training alone increased physical self-esteem more than the combination of resistance and aerobic training. This is good news for those patients who may not have the ability or energy to embrace an aerobic exercise program, or as the first step along the way to a comprehensive exercise program.

Each participant was assessed for strength, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, body composition and self-esteem. At the end of 12 weeks, each group demonstrated improvements; in particular, the Thera-Band resistance and combined aerobic and resistance groups significantly increased their upper body strength. The resistance training group also significantly increased their self-esteem; however, the combination of aerobic and resistance training did not provide additional enhancements to self-esteem. In summary, a Thera-Band resistance exercise program is effective in improving both strength and physical self-esteem in breast cancer survivors.

We are grateful to Dr. Musanti for her work on this study, which will help fellow clinicians make evidence-led decisions that ultimately benefit patients, said Dr. Phil Page, Director of Clinical Education and Research for Performance Health. There are countless studies that validate the effectiveness of our Thera-Band resistance products, but its particularly gratifying when our products provide multiple benefits, such as improving both strength and self-esteem, to a group that is so worthy after fighting and succeeding in the battle against cancer. We are also pleased that this news piece falls in October, National Breast Cancer month and hope that it garners greater attention.

Exercise Improves Effects of Stroke: Study

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 3 (HealthDay News) -- People who have suffered a stroke can improve their memory, thinking, language and judgment problems by nearly 50 percent through exercise, according to a new Canadian study.

Researchers in Toronto said these positive effects can be recognized after just six months of physical activity, and they suggested that exercise should be a routine part of treatment following stroke.

"People who have cognitive deficits after stroke have a threefold risk of mortality, and they're more likely to be institutionalized," the study's lead researcher, Susan Marzolini, of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, said in a news release from the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. "If we can improve cognition through exercise, which also has many physical benefits, then this should become a standard of care for people following stroke."

The researchers had 41 stroke patients perform an aerobic and strength/resistance training program five days a week. Of these participants, 70 percent had mild to moderate walking problems and needed a cane or walker to get around. The exercises the patients were given imitated daily life, such as walking, lifting weights and doing squats.

The study revealed the proportion of stroke patients with at least mild cognitive impairment declined from 66 percent to 37 percent during the course of the six-month study. The researchers noted "significant improvements" in the patients' overall brain function. They added that the most notable improvements involved attention, concentration, planning and organizing. The participants also gained muscle strength and were able to walk better.

"These results provide compelling evidence that by improving cardiovascular fitness through aerobic exercise and increasing muscle mass with resistance training, people with stroke can improve brain health," said Marzolini. "Modified exercise programs are desperately needed. They can be adapted for people following stroke, and we think they can provide huge health benefits."

"Healthy living is important for reducing your risk for stroke, recovering from stroke and preventing another," Ian Joiner, director of stroke for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, said in the news release. "All of us should manage our risk factors for stroke and, when needed, have access to information and counseling about strategies to modify our lifestyle choices."

The study was presented Monday at the Canadian Stroke Congress. Data and conclusions presented at meetings should be viewed as preliminary until published in a peer-reviewed medical journal.

Water exercise boosts endurance in COPD

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Water workouts may trump land-based exercise for people with chronic lung disease and other health problems, according to a small study.

Australian researchers found that exercising in a pool boosted physical endurance and energy levels in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, and physical complaints such as obesity or back pain.

"Participants in the water-based exercise training group reported an improvement in many functional aspects of their daily life such as improved stamina and ability to complete tasks such as walking long distances when shopping," said Renae McNamara, a physical therapist at The Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick.

"They reported less fatigue, as well as less breathlessness when completing activities of daily living such as showering and dressing," she told Reuters Health by email.

COPD includes various lung diseases that cause breathlessness, such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. About 65 million people have moderate to severe COPD, according to the World Health Organization.

There are drugs to quell symptoms of the disease, and exercise is recognized to improve the breathing problems and fatigue associated with the condition.

But many drop out of training programs, which can be particularly strenuous for people who also have other health issues. The new study, published in the European Respiratory Journal, is the first to test the benefits of exercise in this group of patients, McNamara said.

They enrolled 53 patients in the study, assigning them randomly to workouts in a hydrotherapy pool, gym-based training or standard medical care without exercise. The exercise programs include three weekly one-hour sessions over two months and 45 patients completed the study.

Whether they worked out on land or in water, patients were able walk faster after the training than when they just got usual care. But those who exercised in the pool reported less fatigue than the gym trainers and also developed more physical endurance.

On a test wherein they had to walk as far as they could at a constant speed, patients who'd exercised in water outpaced those trained in a gym by 228 meters (748 feet). Researchers consider a difference of 203 meters important.
