New Delhi: The term intermittent fasting (IF) is an eating schedule that compriseseating and fasting phases - it can also be called intermittent calorie restriction (ICR). The intermittent fasting diet schedule is more popular amongst those trying to lose weight and reduce belly fat. Fasting stimulates your fat cells to break down to provide energy, thereby resulting in weight loss.

Here the focus is on when to eat, rather than what to eat, and, hence, it's not exactly adiet plan but rather an eating pattern or schedule. Keeping control of food portions or quantity during your eating window plays an essential part in sustaining weight loss. Fasting can also make you feel tired, weak and irritable. So, as with any diet plan, intermittent fasting may have some benefits, including weight loss, but it may not be suitable for everyone.
