New York City Storm Blackout: Jazzmyn Banks Update
As Tropical Storm Sandy caused devastating damage in the tri-state area, Con Edisons Lower Manhattan Power Plant blew up leaving all of lower Manhattan with out any electricity. Jazzmyn Banks is a wheelchair bound New York City blackout victim. Being in a wheelchair during circumstances like these are difficult for most, but the disabled often have no where to go that is accessible to stay in. Attempts were made to find available handicap rooms in motels/hotels, but all were booked up. This is a common dilemma for many disabled individuals since evacuating to a place with an accessible bathroom is most times the first priority. She stayed for five days with no electricity, very little water that sometimes allowed toilets to flush, but no other usable water, no heat and lost all refrigerated/frozen food. She had to ignore many of her medical needs that relied on electricity, water and special diet as she figured out creative ways to manage under new circumstances. In this video Jazzmyn tries to make the best out of a challenging situation by doing a report from her dark hallway. Stay tuned for upcoming videos on this issue and suggestions how to manage if you #39;re stuck in a blackout situation! From:Jazzmyn BanksViews:0 0ratingsTime:01:35More inHowto Style
