The Knights of Columbus support HGH Foundation with $2,000 donation – The Review Newspaper

The Knights of Columbus, council #9952, made a $2,000 donation to the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) Foundation following a community breakfast on February 16. The $2,000 donation will be allocated toward the HGH Foundations current fundraising priority.

The Knights of Columbus, council #9952, organizes a community breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the basement of the Paroisse St-Pierre-Aptre Church in Hawkesbury every third Sunday of each month. They support an organization or charity after every one of their breakfasts. The HGH Foundation is very grateful to have been chosen as one of the recipients of their support! The cheque was presented by members of the Knights of Columbus, council #9952, in the attached photo. Present and included in the photo were: Paul Moreau (Knights of Columbus, council #9952), Jacques Parisien (Board of Directors Member, HGH Foundation), Erin Tabakman (Donor Relations Officer, HGH Foundation), Lorraine Larivire (Board of Directors Member, HGH Foundation), Christine Gray St-Denis (Philanthropic Projects Coordinator, HGH Foundation), and many volunteers from the Knights of Columbus, council #9952, and the HGH Foundation.

The HGH Foundations Current Fundraising Priority: Theres No Place Like Home

Thanks to the expansive and accessible layout of our new hospital, as well as the new CT scanner and MRI machine, HGH is enhancing its services in orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, urology and nuclear medicine. This focus reflects the most pressing and increasing needs of the local population.

Community support will continue to help ensure that new medical equipment is available to meet the regions healthcare needs and to make the most of the recent redevelopment and expansion at HGH. As the community grows, so will HGHs ability to expand services and programs to continue to provide more healthcare closer to home.

The HGH Foundation will first focus on helping support the development of HGHs new Orthopedic Program. Orthopedics really is a specialty that affects everyone. No one is immune to a fracture or injury.

And as we age, our joints often deteriorate making normal daily activities difficult and ruining our quality of life, says Dr. Chris Kennedy, an orthopedic surgeon who is helping develop the Orthopedic Program at HGH. The reality is that when youre in pain, travelling to Ottawa for multiple appointments is difficult and even the chores of daily life can be excruciating.

That is why HGH and its Foundation are working to bring orthopedic services closer to home. The HGH Foundation is now seeking the communitys support to fully equip HGHs operating theatres with the specialized equipment needed to perform orthopedic surgeries in Hawkesbury.

The HGH Foundations mission is to raise funds in order to improve the care and services offered to the community by the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital.
