Dad Tests Positive for PEDs after 12-Year Old Sons Driveway Hoops Beatdown – Fanbuzz

There comes a moment in every dads life when must look himself in the mirror and accept the days of beating his son in sports are over. That day was never happening on Dave Cambridges watch.

Cambridge, 49, tested positive for anabolical steroids, HGH and a low-grade beaver tranquilizer after his son beat him in a best-of-3 series in driveway hoops. Zach Cambridge, 12, beat his dad 11-10 and 11-5 in Games 1 and 3 to claim the series. Dave was able to equal the series in Game 2 with a 15-13 overtime win and enjoyed a victory beer to celebrate, but he nearly passed out after the opening possession in Game 3. He then called an impromptu 20-minute timeout to rest and used the time to bask in the beauty of his freshly mowed lawn.

Once the game returned to action, Zach used his speed and newly improved left hand to win the whole thing. Following the loss, neighbors claimed to hear Dave yell expletives unrelentingly for the following five minutes. After his outburst, he laid down on the pavement in disbelief. Witnesses say they saw tears streaming from Daves eyes, but he vehemently claims it was just sweat.

Three days later, Dave challenged Zach to a rematch. He was looking spry, his bench max had increased by 100-pounds and he was dunking like he did once when he was drunk in college (or so he says). Dave crushed Zach 11-2 and 11-4 this go around, saying things like This is what you get for messing with the big dog, when backing his son down in the post and slamming it on him a la Shaquille ONeal and Chris Dudley.

Naturally, Zach was not only taken aback by the loss, but by the fact his dad went from a husky fella to a ripped demigod in three days time. He told his mom, who reminded him of Section B, Paragraph 4, footer 2 of their neighborhoods Home Owners Association contract:

Any son who has reason to suspect his dad may be using performance-enhancing drugs to better his driveway basketball game can subject him to a drug test administered by the HOA. However, the son must submit pictorial evidence.

The pictorial evidence:

RELATED: 35-Year Old Basketball Player Wins 6th Rec-League Title, Dubs Himself The Michael Jordan of Rec-League Hoops

The next day, HOA officials arrived at the Cambridge household. The results, to everyones surprise, were positive. Per Section B, Paragraph 4, footer 3 the punishment is as follows: If a father tests positive for performance-enhancing drugs, he cant work the grill at that years block party, he must abstain from watching Sunday golf for a month, instead, he must watch and discuss whatever Bravo show his wife is currently binging, he must take his son to a NBA game and he must deliver an apology to the whole family.

So, later that night, Dave gathered his wife Sally, Zach, Zachs older sister Geraldine and Zachs younger brother Fabio in the dining room.

I come to you as a broken man, Dave started. First and foremost, I have to apologize to Zach. Zach, you beat me fair and square. There comes a time in every dads life when he must concede athletic competition to his son. I thought the day would never come, but here we are. My competitive fire that burns with the energy of 1,000 suns wouldnt allow me to submit. I reached my lowest low. Even though the PEDs made me feel what I can only describe as pure, unfiltered ecstasy, thats not who I am.

To the rest of the family, Dave continued. You have never seen any dad in the entire country watch Bravo as intently as I will during my suspension, and you?ll never see someone dissect the interpersonal relationships of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City as in-depth as I will during my suspension. Youll never see a man engage in post-show dialogue as hard as I will during my suspension. Im going to take this time to reflect and come out a better man on the other side. Thank you

Dave Cambridges story shows that were all human, and humans make mistakes. Dave appears to be back on the right track. Hell have to stay strong and remember this moment once Zach can beat him in golf.

How to Boost Human Growth Hormone (HGH) Naturally – Farr Institute

HGH is an important hormone produced in the pituitary gland. Its a good predictor of overall health. Low HGH levels point to an increased risk of disease and unhealthy weight gain (1).

Optimal Growth Hormone levels are vital during recovery, training, and weight loss (2,3,4). This is because HGH regulates cell repair and other recovery-relevant metabolic functions (5,6,7).

Because this Growth Hormone is naturally synthesized in the body, its possible to influence its production. Lets look at a few strategies for boosting HGH naturally and the science behind why they work.

Growth hormone production isnt linear. HGH levels are highest when you sleep, and even then, they are greatly influenced by your sleep cycles. Production typically peaks before midnight, followed by a few weak pulses before the crack of dawn (8,9).

To get the best out of these cycles, you need to be sound asleep before midnight. Go to bed about two hours, no less than an hour, before midnight.

Research has shown that your growth hormone levels begin to increase after about an hour of sleep (10). This is, arguably, when youre most likely to be in deep slumber (11).

Human sleep cycles occur in two main phases: NREM and REM.

NREM precedes REM (12). The interesting bit is that NREM cycles shorten as the night progresses (13). This is why its so important to sleep a few hours before midnight. You want to have as many long NREM cycles as possible.

Lets look at the three stages therein:

So, how do you optimize your sleep for maximum growth hormone production?

Structure your sleeping habits to make the most of SWS. Research shows that poor sleeping habits negatively affect your Human Growth Hormone levels (14). Ensuring you get adequate sleep is a proven strategy for continued high HGH production (9).

Here are a few tips:

Insulin has been linked to low growth hormone levels (15). To maximize

HGH production, ensure that your insulin levels are lowest at night.

How do you do that?

Sugar and refined carbslike white bread, white rice, and pastaare documented to spike your insulin levels (16). Reduced intake of refined carbohydrates and sugar has shown great potential in optimizing HGH production (8,9).

A study compared HGH levels between healthy people, and four other groups with insulin problems (diabetes, impaired carbohydrate tolerance, impaired insulin function). Growth hormone production was 34 times higher in healthy people (17). Clearly showing the link between insulin and HGH.

Sugary beverages are especially harmful. Interestingly, the body doesnt respond to sweet drinks in the manner it responds to solid food (18). These beverages arent as satiating as solid foods (19).

You end up taking more liquids than in solids form because you dont feel as fullindependent of caloric intake (20). Avoid sweet drinks like sodas and sweetened yogurt before bedtime.

Insulin levels spike immediately after a meal and stabilize after 23 hours (21). Eat all your meals at least 2 hours before bedtime.

Some research suggests that a high-protein meal before bed could potentially inhibit HGH activity (22). Even though the research on that isnt conclusive, we know for sure that all late-night snacks will trigger insulin production (23).

Excessive fat is strongly linked to low HGH production (24). This is another reason why you should avoid sugary meals, especially before going to sleep. The consumption of high-sugar meals at night is closely associated with weight gain (25). Avoiding sweet treats at night regulates your insulin, and also keeps your weight in check.

One study found that losing fat around the abdominal area leads to a significant boost in growth hormone levels (26).

In another study, participants who had 3x the amount of body fat as the control group were found to have half their growth hormones (27). Its well-documented that obese people return to normal HGH levels after losing weight. (28).

Interestingly, the impact of body fat on HGH production is strongest in men. Both sexes experience an increase in growth hormone levels after shedding off some weight, though (27,29). This is probably because fat distribution in men favors the belly, where its most harmful (30,31).

Healthy eating is beneficial to your overall well-being. Every balanced diet optimizes HGH production by keeping your insulin and body fat levels in check. That said, some special foods are directly linked to enhanced Growth Hormone secretion.

Lets look at a few of the best documented H G H-boosting foods.

This hormone is released as you sleep. It regulates your sleep cycles and helps you get longer and deeper sleep associated with enhanced HGH production (9). A melatonin-rich breakfast increases melatonin secretion in the night. Melatonin-Rich Foods :

Another study found that a tryptophan-rich breakfast coupled with exposure to bright light in the day significantly boosted HGH levels (32). Tryptophan-dense foods include eggs, milk, grains, beans, and meat. Work these foods into your breakfast and take a short stroll in the bright of day for a good nights sleep.

Melatonin supplements happen to be very popular sleeping aids in the US. Its one of the most commonly used supplements (33).

Research shows that a little melatonin supplementation directly boosts the production of Human Growth Hormones (34,35,36).

Being a naturally-occurring hormone, its non-toxic. However, these supplements have been shown to affect brain chemistry, so you should only take them under medical supervision (37).

You should also contact a medical professional before taking these supplements if you are pregnant. One animal study found that melatonin lowers birth weight and increases baby mortality (38).

Arginine is one of the amino acids that boost the synthesis of the Human Growth Hormone (38,39). Arginine-rich foods include:

Many people take arginine supplements to complement their exercises. Thats a mistake. When taken alongside exercise, theres no significant increase in HGH production. You are better off taking the supplement alone (38,39,40).

Per recent research, higher doses, 1520 grams of Arginine per day boosts nighttime HGH production by up by about 60 percent. Thats the equivalent of taking 114 mg per pound of body weight. Lower doses, 610 grams per day, about 45 mg for every pound in body-weight, didnt show any significant impact on growth hormone production (41).

If you are looking for something to boost your HGH levels alongside exercise, take sport drinks. They are rich in beta-alanine, which boosts growth hormone levels, and its been documented to double your peak workout power (42).

Protein shakes are also an option if you want an HGH-friendly supplement to complement exercise. These shakes boost the secretion of Growth Hormones around workouts (43).

Glutamine is a potent amino acid that has been shown to increase HGH production even at small doses, significantly. A 2 mg dose has been documented to boost GH secretion by up to 78 percent (44).

Glutamine-rich foods include:

Ornithine is one of the amino acids responsible for protein synthesis and muscle mass (45). Research has shown that people who take ornithine about half an hour after working out experience increased HGH synthesis (46).

Foods rich in ornithine include:

All forms of exercise will increase your levels of Human Growth Hormone, but high-intensity activity produces the most significant boosts (46,47). Theres no universal session duration, but workouts typically last about an hour. Weight training, sprinting, and interval training have shown a lot of promise increasing HGH levels (48,49,50).

The benefits of exercise extend beyond short-term spurts in Human Growth Hormone. In the long-term, it will help you cut down your body fat, increasing GH production (27,29).

HGH levels increase by about 300 percent when you fast for 3 days. After fasting for a week, HGH secretion is at 1,250 percent (51). These results have been replicated in other studies with researchers observing a doubling or tripling of HGH levels just 23 days into a fast (52,53,54).

The trick is to find the right balance between when to eat and when to fast.

Intermittent fasting impacts HGH secretion both in the short-term and in the long-term. In the short-term, fasting keeps your insulin low. Since this hormone is associated with low GH levels, keeping it low boosts HGH production (23,55).

In the long-term, it lowers your body fat, resulting in a long-term boost in growth hormone production(23,56).

HGH, a hormone produced in the pituitary gland, is vital for cell repair and other essential metabolic functions. Its production typically peaks when we are deep asleep (SWS).

Like other hormones, its greatly influenced by body fat. Mind your lifestyle and diet.

By following the outlined tips, you can increase GH production to optimal levels with very little effort. The endocrine systemthe system that regulates growth hormonesperforms at its peak when you eat and live healthily.

If you want to learn more about HGH, you can read our articles about the benefits of hgh and the best hgh supplements out there.

Bubble Gut {or Palumboism} What, Why & How to Stop HGH Belly

HGH (Human Growth Hormone)GutWhat is a Bubble Gut?

A Bubble Gut is the excessive stomach distension around the midsection causingbodybuildersto appear asthough they've got excess fat and heavy bloating around the gut. This trend has become even more pronounced over the last 5 years, with images of Mr. Olympia winner and runner up Phil Heath and Kai Greene, and even previous champions like Ronnie Coleman, showing signs of excessive stomach distension despite extremely low body fat.

This has led to many spectators or fans wondering what is causing the appearance of a gut on these athletes and why it has increased in recent years. The stomach distension is known in bodybuilding circles as HGH Gut,Insulin Gut, "Palumboism",or more popularly, Bodybuilder Belly, Muscle Gut or "Bubble Gut". As the above name suggests, the stomach distension seen in these bodybuilders is believed to be caused by insulin and human growth hormone (HGH) abuse.

To help you navigate this article, we've included a table of contents linking to each section:

What causes bubble gut in bodybuilders?

A Multi-Faceted Problem

How to prevent an HGH belly

Bubble gut is caused by factors such asincreased use of insulin andthe introduction of HGH injectionsuse in the nineties. There is no one factor that has been proven to cause the emergence of the bodybuilder belly (Palumboism). The most realistic explanation is a combination of factors.

These include:

The extremely high doses of HGH used by bodybuilders, estimated at around 5 milligrams per day, can cause side effects such as the excessive growth of some tissues, like the intestines. With larger intestines, the abdomen can bulge to up to twice its natural size, particularly after food consumption.

Many bodybuilders also combine HGH, and many other substances, with insulin use; a practice known as stacking. This insulin use can then cause increased fat storage behind the stomach, known as visceral fat, which can lead to a larger abdomen.

Through the use of insulin and Human Growth Hormone drugs and the addition of multiple supplements and a diet that is extremely high in protein, muscle mass increases considerably. This causes not only an increase in mass in the Rectus Abdominis, or the six pack, itself, but also in the muscles that lie underneath it, such as the Transverse Abdominus and the Internal Obliques. This causes the entire midsection to grow and protrude, giving a blocky appearance and contributing to stomach distension. The 'look' has been nicknamed 'Palumboism'.

High carbohydrate foods cause an increase in glycogen to be stored in the muscles which causes increased water retention, as glycogen attracts water. Both this and the large volume of carbohydrate rich foods further contribute to Muscle Gut by providing a 'bloated' look.

Irrespective of protein, carbohydrates or supplements, all bodybuilders follow an extremely high calorie diet, with some consuming over 10,000 calories per day. This high calorie food intake also means a high volume of food which can stay in the stomach for prolonged periods causing gut distension.

Many bodybuilders and fitness models use a technique known as 'carb' or 'glyco' loading, where a bodybuilder dehydrates and lowers carbohydrate intake and, in many cases, ingests diuretics to help flush water out of the body. They then ingest large amounts of carbohydrates and water to cause a supercompensation of water content in the muscles, allowing greater definition and muscle volume. However, if mistimed, this loss of water, along with the problems of high carbohydrate intake, can cause slower digestion and stomach emptying, meaning more food stays in the gut for longer, promoting distension.

Any combination of the above factors can lead to gut distension and explains the names given to this condition by the bodybuilding community. While no studies have proven these theories directly, there is scientific evidence that all of the above mechanisms behind HGH gut are possible (1, 2).

Due to recent studies showing a lack of effectiveness in human growth hormone promoting strength or muscle mass (3, 4), and the dangers of insulin abuse compared to similar benefits elicited from safer supplements (5, 6), abstinence would seem like a natural solution. However, the reason most of these bodybuilders take high levels of these drugs is due both to the perceived benefit they possess for aiding muscle growth, and because they can aid tendon recovery and growth and prevent injury (7). As such, there is little point in recommending completely halting their use. However, there may be methods to reduce stomach distension without stopping or even reducing HGH or insulin use. There are a number of methods that could be used to help prevent the Insulin or HGH Gut from occurring in new bodybuilder as well as help reduce its appearance in veteran athletes.

From examining bodybuilders who were known to have used HGH throughout their careers (i.e. Dorian Yates and Ronnie Coleman), its clear that stomach distension isnt permanent and is reversible by lowering the dose or eliminating use (ending the cycle). Insulin is also primarily bulking substance and can actually hinder the cutting process by increasing fat storage (8). So, reducing the amount of HGH and Insulin taken when cutting and approaching contests will allow a bodybuilder to reap all the benefits of the two drugs while reducing gut distension on stage.

Intermittent Fasting has been shown to be just as effective as conventional calorie cutting for helping weight and fat loss while maintaining muscle (9, 10). When timed correctly, this can ensure that the amount of food in the digestive system is low and help reduce any stomach distension while allowing a high quality physique to be maintained during a contest.

Many bodybuilders are tempted to increase their carbohydrate intake when cutting to maintain muscle mass. However, as insulin use has been reduced or eliminated, their is no additional benefit to maintaining high carbohydrate intake. In fact, cutting carbohydrates and maintaining fats can cause higher levels of testosterone when dieting (11), while the decreased food volume will help keep Muscle Gut under control. During these periods, protein intake can be kept high without high carbohydrate dairy products by using meat, eggs and supplements like Grenade Carb Killa Protein BarsTM for high protein and fibre or low carbohydrate whey isolate shakes like Isotean TM protein. It should also be noted that increasing protein further during these diets could help improve visceral fat loss that was caused by the previous insulin use. Also, eating out at certain restaurants or meals can be challenging when looking to maintain a low-carb diet. For this, consider consulting this guide on low-carb meals and restaurants that are available.

When using water manipulation techniques, ensure that sodium and electrolyte intake is increased through supplementing with electrolyte solutions such as Genius Electrolytes, and that fibre and digestive enzyme intake is high to aid digestion. This can be done by supplementing with digestive aids like Fiberlyze. Also make sure that timing is correct, giving approximately 24 hours to allow full glycogen supercompensation before contest time. All of these strategies can be effective in reducing Bodybuilder Belly and improving physique on stage. However, it is important to consider individual differences and experiment with these steps carefully, as responses to them may differ between individuals. Also, it can be difficult to maintain strict dietary protocols when travelling for competition. So, check out this guide on dieting while on the road to help consider different foods and diets while on the road can help a lot.

Human growth hormone – safe and unsafe use of HGH | healthdirect

If your child is growing more slowly than other children or is very short for their age, they might have low levels of a brain hormone called human growth hormone (HGH, or hGH).

Growth hormone is a small protein made in part of the brain called the pituitary gland. It travels in the bloodstream to all tissues in the body to stimulate growth.

Lack of HGH can cause slow growth in children and also problems with fitness and health in adults.

A very high level of HGH can cause children to be abnormally tall. In adults, it can cause overgrowth of bone that disfigures the hands, feet and face a condition called acromegaly.

Until the mid-1980s, the growth hormone used to treat humans was extracted from the donated brains of dead people. However a small number of people treated with such HGH developed Creutzfeld-Jakob Disease (CJD), a brain disease that causes muscle wasting and dementia.

Today synthetic HGH is used. There is no risk now of CJD.

Growth hormone is used to treat children who are not growing or are very short and adults with growth hormone deficiency.

If your child needs treatment with HGH, the Australian government will cover the cost.

If your child needs treatment with HGH, the Australian government may cover the cost. You can check whether your child is eligible on the Services Australia website.

The use of prescribed HGH under medical supervision is generally safe. HGH is given by injection. Some people get a reaction or swelling at the site of injection and a few get headaches.

Some bone problems, like scoliosis, could be worsened if HGH treatment causes rapid growth.

The illegal use of HGH without a prescription, for example to promote muscle growth, is risky. It can cause acromegaly, and possibly diabetes, high blood pressure, liver damage, heart problems and premature aging.

In addition, illegal HGH may not be what it claims to be, so you dont know what you might be injecting.

If you have questions about HGH, or you are concerned about your child's growth, talk to your doctor or call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 (known as NURSE-ON-CALL in Victoria).

Jeff Bezos Not Taking HGH, Source

Lots of folks have jumped to the conclusion Jeff Bezos can only get the body we've now seen with the help of human growth hormones -- HGH -- but sources tell TMZ it's all B.S.

The photos of Jeff and girlfriend Lauren Sanchez made people crazy! They're all over St. Barts in the Caribbean ... him without a shirt and revealing a super-jacked bod.

The 57-year-old Amazon titan has been working out like crazy with celeb trainer Wes Okerson. We're told he was on a strict diet and exercise regimen for months.

That said, lots of folks on social media are pooh-poohing Bezos' transformation, chalking it up to HGH.

A source with direct knowledge scoffs at the allegation, telling us the HGH claim is 100% false.

The source insists this is all Jeff and no drugs or other artificial enhancements. A recent report from Page Six says Bezos' trainer is Wesley Okerson, who also apparently was in St. Barts at the same time as Jeff ... so you gotta imagine he's keeping him pumped up.

Lauren apparently like the results on Jeff too, recently posting a pic of the Amazon founder on a paddle board and a "Good job Wes!"

Bezos and Lauren have been ensconced in the Caribbean for more than a week, showing tons of PDA.

4 Easy Ways for Women to Boost Their HGH Levels – Woman’s World

If you love being a woman but get jealous of how quickly men lose weight, Harvard-trained womens health expert Sara Gottfried, MD, is here for you. Men have a lot more testosterone, which speeds fat burning. But there are simple strategies women can use to level the playing field, insists Dr. Gottfried, who dug into research on body chemistry as her own shape-up efforts floundered. Her most exciting discovery: the slimming power of an often-forgotten hormone called HGH.

Best known for making kids grow taller, HGH also aids adults in building muscle and burning fat. Levels naturally decline up to 50 percent by age 50, but bumping them up again with simple diet changes is surprisingly easy and effective. Women using Dr. Gottfrieds techniques shed up to 40 pounds in a month!

Though common weight-loss techniques may boost HGH, aggressive approaches are stressful for a womans body, and stress has a negative impact on HGH, cautions Dr. Gottfried, author of Women, Food, and Hormones (Buy from Amazon, $18.09).

Her solution? She used blood tests to track HGH as both she and her patients tried gentler options and was delighted to find that these methods can often reverse age-related HGH decline in mere weeks.

Try any (or all!) of the docs strategies, and studies show youll lose up to 18 times more weight than on typical plans!

Going semi-keto: Though scientists arent sure why, getting blood sugar under control is linked to 300 percent higher HGH. Thats part of what prompted Dr. Gottfried to try a classic keto diet, which lowers blood sugar and triggers the body to use stored fat as fuel. Her initial results werent great. Suspecting carb deprivation and lack of veggies were working against her, she created a regimen that allows unlimited carbs from non-starchy veggies and occasional doses of fiber-rich beans, root veggies, and fruit. Success! It helps women lose faster and feel better than they have in years, she promises. (See below for details.)

Adding power proteins: Our bodies use amino acids from protein to make HGH. Since its easier to extract amino acids from animal protein, women with a higher intake of foods like eggs, fish, and beef have been shown to have more HGH. Whey protein powder is particularly helpful at raising HGH, notes Dr. Gottfried. And studies show whey doubles fat burning, even in sedentary seniors. So its a great choice to power up smoothies.

Igniting belly fat: Turns out, letting more time elapse between our last meal of one day and our first meal the next signals the body to make more HGH, increasing levels up to 1,300 percent. Called intermittent fasting, the technique also seems to accelerate HGHs belly-burning power. One study even found that going longer between meals can make 35 percent of our belly fat disappear, just like that. And theres no need to do anything drastic. Dr. Gottfried sees great results when women simply eat in a 10-hour window, such as 8 am to 6 pm.

Walking the HGH way: A friend taught Dr. Gottfried about interval training, which basically tricks the body into thinking its gotten an intense and HGH-stimulating workout even when it hasnt. The idea is to do very fast walking or any intense exercise for 30 seconds followed by 90 seconds of moderate walking or rest. Repeat eight times, says Dr. Gottfried. The approach helped quickly raise her HGH by 53 percent.

To eat Dr. Gottfrieds way, aim for 10 servings of nonstarchy veggies daily. Include healthy fat and six to eight ounces of protein at each meal. Read labels and add up to 25 grams of carbs a day from sources like nuts and keto bread. Eat between 8amand 6pm; sip only water and unsweetened coffee or tea outside that window. After four weeks, add small amounts of beans, sweet potato, and fruit.

BREAKFAST: Spread low-carb toast, such as Base Culture brand (Buy from baseculture.com, $19.99), with avocado; add a cooked egg and low-carb toppings or seasonings.

LUNCH: Top salad with low-carb taco toppings like cooked ground meat, onion, and cheese; mix salsa and olive oil for dressing.

DINNER: Saut garlic, diced zucchini, tomato and seasoning in olive oil; serve with broiled salmon and cauliflower rice.

As with any new dietary regimen, its incredibly important to speak to your doctor before trying. A licensed physician or nutritionist will be able to offer you the best advice in terms of foods, intermittent fasting schedules, and more, based on the state of your current health.
